I don't believe in trusting someone right away. I believe in guarding your heart because the person you're seeing could use what you say against you. If you expose what you want from a partner too soon in a relationship, the man could just tell you what you want to hear.

I guarded myself with my boyfriend. I did let go of my guard more throughout the years with him as trust levels increased, and I felt safe to share more. One thing I loved about my man early on, for example, was when he had sensed something was wrong with me, he asked what’s wrong in a genuine, tender way. It made me open up right away to him, and I normally don't open up about my feelings and emotions easily. I felt safe around him.

Little by little, I believe you can speak more about who you are and what you want as time goes by.

Plus, you stay mysterious that way, and the guy has to really be curious enough to get to know you.
